Guppies Disregard - June 1 Meet Entries
Families,
We want to let you know how excited we are that our first swim meet is just over a week away! We had a coaches meeting yesterday that informed us about swimmers and events they may swim. SAIL wanted us to relay some information to you all about events.
This year, SAIL is pushing hard for teams to not sign up swimmers for events that they know are not legally swam. They want to have coaches really focus on technique to prepare the swimmer for the event so it can be swam legally and save a child from being disqualified. SAIL has stressed to us that if we know that a swimmer does not swim a specific stroke legally, we should not be signing them up for that event. Now, we know that swimmers will only get better as they practice these strokes competitively, but we also want to make sure that the swimmer is practicing the stroke to the best of their ability throughout the week.
With that information being told to us, we want to make sure you all know that we will be working hard on technique, especially with the 9/10 and 8 and under groups. Also, please know that Coach Hayley and Coach AJ (as well as the Guppy coaches Grant and Abbey) are willing to do private lessons at your convenience this summer to give your swimmer that one-on-one time.
If you are concerned about your swimmer and their events for the first meet, please come find one of the coaches at practice tomorrow or send us an email; we will be happy to talk it over or watch your swimmer swim a specific stroke individually.
Thank you and as always, GO BLADES!
Coach Paul, Coach Hayley, and Coach AJ
